There Goes the Bride, Part 1 is the sixteenth episode of the sixth season of The Golden Girls and the one-hundred and forty-fourth episode overall. Directed by Matthew Diamond and written by Gail Parent and Jim Vallely, it premiered on NBC-TV on February 2nd, 1991.
It is the first part of the two-part There Goes The Bride special.
Dorothy keeps her rekindled relationship with Stan a secret from Sophia, but must reveal the truth when Stan proposes. Rose goes out to dinner with a friend of Miles, whose ex-wife begins stalking her.
Around the time of the episode airing, it was announced that Bea Arthur wanted to leave the show or perhaps reduce her role to a recurring character, and series producers wanted to keep the show going with another actress. Arthur decided to return for another season early on. but the tabloids still indicated that "There Goes The Bride" could be the last for Bea as a regular, with the idea that because of her marriage to Stan, Dorothy would only come back for a recurring role. It was also hinted that guest star Debbie Reynolds would be the girls new roommate. Much to delight of fans, it was revealed that Dorothy would be staying with her roommates.

The title refers to the composition "Here Comes the Bride", which is also known as "The Wedding March", "The Bridal Chorus" and "Treulich geführt" from the opera "Lohengrin" by the German composer Richard Wagner. It was first performed in Weimar, Germany in 1850.
