Tony Thomas (born December 7, 1948) is a television comedy writer and producer. and the co-creator of The Golden Girls and its spin-off, The Golden Palace. Tony is the son of late actor/entertainer Danny Thomas and brother of actress Marlo Thomas of That Girl TV series fame, and actress Terre Thomas. He is also the brother-in-law of TV talk show host/journalist and TV personality Phil Donahue, who is married to sister Marlo.
In addition to these sitcoms, Tony, along with his two production team partners, Paul Junger Witt and wife Susan Harris, also created numerous TV series; she wrote the television sitcoms Soap, Benson, Nurses, and Empty Nest. Other shows produced by the Thomas-Witt-Harris production teamm include Fay, It Takes Two, Nurses, Good & Evil, The Golden Palace and The Secret Lives of Men.
Thomas married television producer on Christmas Eve, 2005 in Montecito, California where they reside, as well as New York City. Tony also serves as a member of the ALSAC/St. Jude Boards of Directors and Governors, directing the operation of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that his father had founded.
